desolat is happy to announce a new 12inch by giuseppe cennamo. born in naples, italy in 1980, giuseppe took to the turntables at age 13. following the legacy of fellow napolitanos like marco carola, danilo vigorito and davide squillace, he took the inspiration of classic house and melodic synths to build his own brand of tech. his tracks on several labels got a lot of peak time play and caught the ears of loco dice. fortuitously, after a break to clear his head, mr cennamo decided to take the inspiration of a loco dice dj set to create something specifically tailored for desolat, which resulted in this release.this particular slice of vinyl is aimed squarely at the djs - with the title track amanecer digging deep into the pads, a cantering kick and gentle swing that hints at detroit forefathers. cuando tu quieres stomps its heels and morphs into a very whimsical bouncing house burner: plenty of fun to be had with this one. dejame asi feels like a spaghetti western re-imagined with the help of a conical moving laser beam, a childrens choir and a bag full of kazoos while the rest of nothing is a reduced, pinocchio-like percussion-driven track with an insistent bassline
berlin based ed davenport & oliver deutschmann are both established producers in their own right. with a similar interest in urgent, atmospheric moments for the dancefloor, their first collaboration emerges. a proud and powerful statement of the pairs passion for techno, >trump< runs over ten minutes, focusing on a central, ethereal theme that resonates above a rigid wall of percussion. ibadan records boss and internationally respected electronic music figurehead jerome sydenham lays his hands to >trump< in his dynamic, accurate remix that draws us deep into his mechanic-organic sound. nyc based brendon moeller crafts a bass heavy, urgent >appliance< that honours the groove of the original and morphs it pleasingly into more spaced out zones
danny serrano is back on sphera with a slammin house tunecompleted with remixes from resident siwell and mister butch(greatstuff, cecille, noir, trapez, 100% pure).
sk supreme welcomes 2011 with a strong various artist sampler. labelhead sabb is getting remixed by rodriguez jr. (systematic, mobilee, leena, traum) and ntfo & chris special deliver pure dancefloor funk.
thomas fehlmann is integral to kompakt and the labels history. his solo releases and collaborative work with alex patterson as the orb have been some of the kompakts most revered and cherished tunes. following the success of his 2010 full length gute luft (a collection of re-edited versions from his score to the hit documentary 24hr berlin), we start 2011 off with titan one / dfm. on october 16, 2010 thomas fehlmann performed in montreal, canada at the historic molson coors brewery building together with members of the montreal symphony orchestra (osm). together they sought to recreate a version of gustav mahlers classic symphony no. 1 (titan). kompakt is proud to now offer a new recording inspired by that epic concert of symphonic and electronic with a new recording inspired from that performance renamed as titan one. the hum of cellos and strings conjoin fehlmanns electronics held together by the sublime, unobtrusive thump of a bass drum. titan one flows with a beauty and edacity that is rarely heard in both classical and electronic music form. the b-side features a new recording inspired from the second piece of the performance - a new version of thomas fehlmanns du fehlst mir from his 2006 kompakt full length visions of blah. reanimated as dfm, the piece again conjoins the different musical worlds in a way we have never heard to such a high standard. a much more upbeat affair than to titan one (of course) bass and keyboards mingle with the symphony the playfulness of the original song rolls throughout dfm. whether as palais schaumberg, the orb, or 3mb (to name only a few alias). fehlmann may have 3 decades of professional recordings under his belt but he continues to prove to the world as being one of the most fascinating and creatively open musicians in his field. this release clearly proves his story is far from over.
whats my name, the latest single from the bajan songstress rihanna, is not a cover of the clashs 1977 punk classic, but finds riri taking a detour from the dancefloor-scorching grooves of only girl to craft a steamier cut which draws its heat from her short-lived, but much-buzzed-about relationship with the t-dot heavyweight. here, the upbeat synth boardwork of stargate sets the stage for a heaping helping of innuendo from both collaborators, drizzy handles verse one, sing-rapping his way through a double-entendre-peppered opener (the square root of 69 is (eight/ate) something right? cause i been tryin to work it out.), and rihanna responds in kind, lacing her verses and chorus with some playful come-ons of her own. digging this catchy ode to young love/lust? then be sure to grab a copy of this vinyl and the heavy remixes it has.
once again leng deliver with a lovely bit of heavy electronic stompery. tiagos >the source< goes straight for the dark end of the dancefloor and wallows in the smokey acidic enivirons of the late night moody corner ! with a punchy throbbing bass, hefty beats, tons of spacey effects and some awesome delayed hi hats to really mess your head, this is in the box for the strobe light moment. on side-b >mudds slow rave mix< turns up the acid a few notches, somehow gets even swampier in the bottom end and slightly more whacked out on the fx, add a lovely niggling synth line for a dark heavy dancefloor work out.
need to warm up? want to dance and you love house music? then your gonna to love this track. david guettas ability to supply a proper dance-pop stonker again evident with whos that chick. feel the adrenaline / moving under my skin / its an addiction, the barbadian songbird rihanna hollers over bolshy beats and swaggering synths, the studio trickery on her nonchalant vocals feeling colder than an ice pop on a snowy day. its a good job, then, that bopping along to this - and warming yourself up in the process - is pretty much impossible to resist.
even in 2011 superstar recordings starts with a new brillant single tequila sunrise. afrojack and tocadisco created a great monster tune, which should not be missing in your record case
southern florida, 1984. the sonarphonic sound was pioneered by james mccauley aka maggotron / dxj / basstech. originally produced for bound sound records in 1984, this is one of the earliest and rarest recordings from mccauley and marks the beginning of the underground miami bass electro movement. in the following years he recorded hundreds of tracks including >the bass that ate miami<, >temple of boom<, and >attack on the planet of bass<. maggotron is still active in the genre and is currently working on a new album. if you are unfamiliar with mccauleys musical adventure, let the sonarphonic be your guide. tip!!
one would be curious as to what a track such as this one would sound like. images and visuals floating through your head as you press play, the airy, angelic pad intro induces you into a trance-like state before soothing piano lines and a pitched-up vocal reminiscent of the early hardcore era takes you away. as the drums come in with a half-time feel, it is easy to imagine japanese taiko drummers playing their part. once the break takes hold, a short span of melodic heaven uplifts before the drums take control again.
aardvarck comes with >gloom<, an offshoot of his highly successful >bloom< imprint. >gloom< is the second split effort between aardvarck and dutch beatmaster kubus (opgezwolle, top notch). it features aardvarck on an oldschool techno vibe with deep and greasy beats plus his signature style breaks. on the flipside kubus delivers three insanely loud and bass heavy bangers. limited white label!
cooltool is young sublabel of well-known russian highway records imprint run by rayo & mike spirit. for the debut cooltool release they engaged talented american-ukrainian duo technique & yaroslove. technique & yarosloves duo was formed in 2005 and since that time they released numerous eps on european labels and participated in such big events as kazantip republic. for cooltool records technique & yaroslove provided beautiful track >southwater<. completed with stunning remixes by patrick zigon (cocoon, puzzle traxx, highgrade) and alexkid (f communications, cadenza, rekids), >southwater ep< is perfect start for cooltool records - so this label is definitely worth to keep an eye on it.
italojohnson starts the new year punctual with his third stroke. this record will have something suitable on it for everyone out there. without batting an eyelid, its crosseyed and selfconfident, looking at three different floors at the same time: the a-side focuses on the chicago house floor. it begins with a recognizable toolish sound. slowely but surely the theme of the track opens the track works through a breakdown, a classic drum roll sneaks in and jack grabs again. the b1 provides an unusual turn on the third italojohnson production. theres no space for compromises here. the track stomps on the steam engine warehouse floor. a flowing acid hookline is settled in the industrial drumline and gives the track its meaning. the second track on the flipside completes the whole package and is destined for the late night hours. thats everything there is to say about this track the strength and emotion can only be experienced by listening first hand. love, peace and happiness

fof kick off 2011 with a nod to the past in the form of justin drake (peace division) and kevin griffiths- (tsuba) -the devil-s eyes-, a deliciously grimy jackin- groove, coming on like a low slung mid 90s house production a la schatrax. we enlisted the talents of christopher rau for the first remix. as many of you know christopher has had an impressive 2010 culminating in his critically acclaimed lp -asper clouds- for the always excellent smallville label. chris cleverly uses elements of the original, intertwined them into an altogether quirkier, more optimistic deep house groove with a definite injection of -fun-: to round off the package, new talent bleak takes the reigns, providing a peak time techno stomper. bleak-s debut single will be released on hamburg imprint -sudden drop- sometime in early 2011 and promises to mark bleak out as a name to look out for.

radius continues its superradio series with one of the deeper but bigger tracks from the superradio catalogue. every self respecting disco dj has hammered this gem for years. catch by sun la shan. the best way to describe this track is to picture yourself visage and moroder working out together in a gym staring at a blondie poster. catch is most definitely a seminal piece of work combining disco and new wave in a sexy and sleazy molotov cocktail. the ep comes with a stripped down dub version and a disco devil remix. also hailing from gent, belgium, where radius is based, disco devil stayed quite close to the original vibe with minimal synth efficiency and equally sleazy vocals. catch is sexy!
